In November 2015, I was looking for a change. I had recently lost my mom to cancer and was looking for a way to deal with my grief that didn’t involve food or alcohol. I wasn’t exactly sure what I needed... but I knew it would involve a healthier lifestyle. I had tried gyms in the past, aerobics classes, and even a Zumba class. None of them really kept me interested. I would not always be sure of how to use the equipment properly or would not push myself much. So, when I saw the flyer for CrossFit 1936 in my chiropractor’s office, I was immediately intrigued. I convinced my husband that we had to at least give it a try. After our first class we were both hooked. We both loved the challenge, the variety, and the supportive atmosphere. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. I immediately noticed the positive changes in my body as well as my attitude. The nervous energy I felt walking into the box changed to excitement to see what I would be able to accomplish. The positive atmosphere in the box is contagious. I also found myself being much more patient at home and at work and finding more joy in my life. I had found the path to a healthier, better me. A little over a year later, I am stronger than ever, both physically and mentally! In January 2017 I started scheduling 5 days a week of CrossFit for myself. I even signed up for the 2017 CrossFit Games Open! Last year I was too scared to even think about it. I was certain I would not do well. This year I am up for the challenge! I am so thankful that my husband and kids have been supportive as I continue to ensure I have time for me and my health. I am much more focused on being a positive role model for my children. I want them to grow up with a healthier frame of mind. Thank you to Sheldon and Sara for your training and support! With their help, I have moved from coping and surviving to thriving and loving my life even more. Janelle Kwarciany Above is Janelle pushing herself during the CrossFit Games Open workout 17.2

Hello, Janelle! I want to commend you for being such a strong lady. It seems like you've been through a lot but your perspective in life remains to be positive. That's the right thing to do! Instead of being sad and not moving on, we should choose to move forward ion order for us to be happier. Life is supposed to be like that! Challenges might come and will make us fall, but we should be stronger! What you're doing in your life right now is the right thing.
